‚ÄãI went to EITM at the end of my second in grad school. Now I am a Ph.D. candidate (ABD) in the Department of Political Science at The University of Chicago. My research interests include American presidency, executive-legislative relations, political communications, distributive politics, machine learning and text analysis, and causal inference. My dissertation studies American inter-branch messaging. Drawing upon a rich collection of press releases, social media postings, and floor speeches, I use text as data to elucidate how members of Congress publicly buoy and block presidential efforts to rally public support for policy initiatives, and use causal inference methods to investigate the impact of this inter-branch exchange of messages on fundraising.
