I am a Ph.D. Candidate in Government and Politics at the University of Maryland, College Park. In my dissertation, I propose an insurance model to understand preferences for security in Latin America. I use a combination of formal modeling, experimental methods, and causal inference models to test the empirical implications of the model. Beyond my dissertation, I am a Researcher at the Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Computational Social Science at the University of Maryland. In this position, I am currently working on a series of papers about content activation, news sharing, trust, and framing effects on social media. Methodologically, I am broadly interested in the application of computational methods to the social sciences, with an emphasis on social media data, NLP, and machine learning.
